On the road … again!

I have a confession to make … I tried to find the Big Stockwhip, but it was down a horrid corrugated unsealed road so I turned back. Mick’s Whips is quite well known in Darwin as he has a stall at the Mindil Markets. I watched some of his whip cracking at the Market … very impressive. My confession … I took the following photo from a website instead … sorry!
I had a great time in Darwin, and met and stayed with a fab couple, Jan and Charlie. They were very hospitable and I got to sleep in an aircon house with Foxtel … yeah … Game of Thrones episode finally!!!!
I left Darwin yesterday to come and spend a few days at Mataranka and the thermal pools. I called into Bitter Springs, but there was too much floating algae around the edges of the stream … yuk … so moved onto Mataranka Tourist Homestead. I called in on my way north so I knew it was a lovely place. On the first visit I did miss the local park with statues celebrating the characters of We of the Never Never, a book and subsequent movie that was set in and around Mataranka.
An aboriginal horseman.
Owners of the homestead, a key and central place of the book and movie.
A young aboriginal girl who lived at the homestead.
Chinese cook at the homestead.
And now for something special … Mataranka Homestead thermal pool … words can’t describe the beauty …
And this …
