Millie’s and my road trip adventure has started

Before I tell you about my day, I have a few Big Things to add to the blog. Firstly a few in Bundaberg that I missed last time I was there … The Big Lung Fish, or should that be skeleton of the Big Lung Fish?

In the same park an odd looking “ant thing” … It only had one eye and was supposed to represent a female creature looking back to see if her mate was following … Like the biennale in Sydney … I don’t ‘get’ modern art!

Oh well onto to Mackay to pick up Millie and her car, complete with horse float. Went through Rockhampton, home of the six Big Bulls. I did photograph all of those Bulls on a previous visit, but on my way out if town I discovered they were multiplying … 3 more had appeared at a steakhouse just out of town …

Continuing to head north I knew I had missed the Big Cane Toad at Sarina previously so was determined not to do that again … Alas it wasn’t there … Having a makeover apparently … Sigh! I had to console myself with the Big Can at Koumala … Hard to photograph as the sun was directly behind it … This was the best I could do …

Finally at Mackay. Left today to drive to Darwin, complete with Millie, her car and horse float full of furniture. I was up early!!!! 7.30 am!!! Left Millie’s at 9.11 am … Almost when planned … 9 am sounded sooooo early for me. With a couple of brief stops for fuel and cold drinks arrived at Hughenden at 6.50 pm. A long day … Set the timeframes with my son James … It was supposed to be approx 7 hours 22 mins … Patently not right, because long periods of 60 km for road works! Tomorrow planning to be up at 7 am to leave by 8.30 am … Eeekkkk!!! 7 hrs 11 mins … Supposedly … Be interesting to see how long it actually takes to get to Camooweal lol. Hope it isn’t as long as today! Better get some sleep …
